NECESSARY UPDATES TO CONNECT

COST: $15,000

Serving our community well means taking care of more than just what happens inside our studios. This year, we need to make important updates to the equipment at our towers — the behind-the-scenes technology that keeps us on the air every day. Right now, for example, our power system doesn’t allow your car radio to display the song that’s playing. We’d love to provide that feature for you, but it requires purchasing and installing upgraded equipment at the tower site. We also need to bring in a qualified engineer to assess our current setup and guide us on the right improvements. That assessment comes with a cost, but it’s a necessary step to ensure we’re serving you with excellence and reliability.

We also need to paint our tower — something that may not sound exciting, but is simply part of maintaining the infrastructure that makes radio possible. These aren’t flashy projects or “sexy” upgrades. They’re the practical, essential investments required to keep providing the stories, songs, and connection you count on every day. If we’re going to continue serving our community well — and even improve how we serve you — this is the year we need to take care of these foundational needs.

EXTENDING HOPE IN SPANISH

INITIAL ONE-TIME COST: $15,000

ONGOING COSTS: $350 PER MONTH

As our community grows, so does our opportunity to serve it well. With the construction of the new Meta facility, we’re seeing an influx of Spanish-speaking workers and families moving into our area. We would love to provide Spanish-language programming to serve these neighbors — sharing the same hope, encouragement, and connection found in Jesus in a language that speaks directly to their hearts. This is about reaching all of our community with the Gospel.

We’re grateful to have a trusted ministry partner who already produces strong, Christ-centered Spanish content. Rather than starting from scratch, we’re exploring how to use what they’ve created and offer a localized version tailored specifically to our community. That means there will be an initial investment to launch the programming, along with ongoing monthly fees to sustain it. It’s a meaningful commitment — but one that allows us to extend HOPE to workers and families who are right here among us, ready to be served and encouraged.

A STREAM FOR EVERY STORY

INITIAL COST: $2000 per format

ONGOING MONTHLY COSTS: $500 plus music licensing fees

Another opportunity in front of us is the ability to expand how we serve you through digital streaming. Right now, we offer one primary music stream — but technology now gives us the chance to provide multiple music stations through our online platforms. That means we could create different formats to meet listeners where they are, whether they prefer worship, throwbacks, deeper cuts, or music geared specifically toward families or younger audiences.

By offering additional streams, we’re not changing who we are — we’re multiplying how we deliver stories, songs, and connection. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we can create targeted listening experiences that connect more hearts to the hope of Jesus.

These formats could include:

Gospel / Southern Gospel
Urban Gospel
Classic Christian Music (Best of the 70s, 80s, and 90s)
Podcast and Spoken Word formats

And truly — the sky is the limit. This is where you come in. Your support helps determine which formats we launch first. Each stream would reflect the heart of The Cross — providing not just music, but stories and meaningful opportunities to connect. Together, we can create more ways for our community to experience hope, encouragement, and the message of Jesus every single day.

STRONGER SIGNAL GREATER IMPACT

INITIAL COST: $25,000

In the coming months, new opportunities could significantly expand our reach across Northeast Louisiana. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is expected to open a window for additional FM translators — smaller relay signals that strengthen coverage in areas where a primary signal may be weaker. These translators would allow more families, more back roads, and more communities to clearly receive the hope-filled programming they depend on every day.

But opportunities like this require preparation. Before we can apply, we must complete essential due diligence — engineering studies, technical planning, and regulatory groundwork — so that when the filing window opens, we are ready. That preparation carries real costs, even before a translator is ever secured.

Launching a single FM translator is a significant investment, typically ranging from $20,000 to $40,000 or more, depending on location and equipment needs. That includes engineering, FCC filings, transmitter and antenna equipment, installation, and the work required to ensure reliable, excellent service.

While that number may seem large, what it represents is even greater: clearer signal. Stronger coverage. More homes reached. More lives impacted. More people hearing stories, songs, and connection — and experiencing the hope of Jesus.
