Music Submission Guidelines
How We Choose Our Songs
Thank you for your interest in sharing your music with 88.7 The Cross. In order to focus ministry efforts and resources, here is the general music selection policy/process at The Cross.
Every other week we listen to several songs to possibly fit into rotation on our current playlist. Most of the time there is only room for maybe one – possibly two songs. Local artists are vying for the same airtime that national artists are, and of course, there are more artists/songs (national and local) than we can fit in.
Music is filtered and chosen based on the following criteria:
We have a responsibility to our listeners to play songs that are well written and produced as well as provide content that matches our core values and specific guidelines, regardless of whether they are local artists or national — from an independent or major record label.
Because of the high volume of submissions we receive, we suggest that before sending us your music, you make sure it is Broadcast Quality (No MP3s Please!). We also recommend that you utilize an independent radio promoter/representative to give you feedback on your music as they work with radio stations across the country and can provide valuable information to help you.
88.7 The Cross does not guarantee your song will be given airplay. If your song is selected for airplay, we will contact you and/or your representative.
Please know this: If your song doesn’t get played on The Cross, that does not mean you aren’t talented and that we don’t love your music. It simply means it doesn’t fit the current song catalog. We’re still cheering for you and hoping God uses you for His kingdom, through your music, and/or your many other gifts He’s given you!
