Ouachita Green is dedicated to preserving Ouachita Parish’s natural beauty, protecting the environment, preventing blight, leading litter abatement efforts, and environmental education.

Each year they host the Household Hazardous Waste event for homes in Ouachita Parish. This year’s event is Saturday, March 16, at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center, in West Monroe.

This is for residential only (not businesses). You can dispose of the following items:

Latex paints, stains, antifreeze, household chemicals, motor oil, pesticides, bulbs, fire extinguishers, electronics, prescription drugs, batteries, and pool chemicals.

They will take the following recyclable materials: clothing, household items, paper, plastics (1 & 2 only), cardboard, metal, white goods, appliances, and glass.

They will also have shredding services available (3-box limit per household).

So get your spring cleaning done and help keep Ouachita Parish beautiful!
